A long post!

This post has been on my heart for a while now. Some things have been said over the past few weeks and I want to share our story.I pray the words I type speak truth into some and open peoples eyes to others lives.

My husband, Matthew, works for an incedible church. We have been so blessed by being at Cedarcrest in many ways. We are so thankful that God has led us to Cedarcrest. Matthew has been there for 4.5yrs full time but he has been going/volunteering/working there for almost 8yrs, since the very first sunday.

Before Matthew went to work at Cedarcrest he was a mechanic for Capital Cadillac. Worked nights in Ballground on cars and did setup for church on saturdays and ran sound/lights on sunday then did tear down. He had 3 jobs and was working 7 days a week, many night until 1 or 2 am then back up the next morning at 6am to do it all over again. He did this for about 4yrs and I was with him for 1+ of this.

After praying for 2 months Matthew accepted the position at Cedarcrest for fulltime. He left Capital Cadillac. Jr was a couple months old when he started. During this time he still worked in Ballground at night on cars and we still did setup saturdays and worked sundays and did teardown. So, he was still working 7 days a week and working nights till 1 or 2am but he just had 2 jobs instead of 3. We did this until colton was a few months old. At this point we moved to meeting at Allatoona high school. that was such a blessing. We still had to teardown and setup but we got to do it all on sunday. At this point, we got our Saturdays back!! Matthew also got Fridays off so our weekend was fri/sat since sunday is a work day for him. He did still work in ballground on nights and his off days so we still didnt see much of him.

When I got pregnant with Tinsley we prayed and decided that Matthew would stop working nights in Ballground when she came along. He did slow down working in Ballground. instead of every week, he worked maybe 2 or 3 weeks at night a month. So, he would come home for dinner and leave before bath/bedtimes. He did this until Tinsley was about 7 months old. At that point he realized that he needed to be home with us at night. He was missing out on a lot and we missed him like crazy. So after 3.5yrs of hardley ever seeing daddy, we had him home with us after work and for bath/bedtime! It was an adjustment bc we were not really used to it but we found our new normal and were so happy with it! So at this point Matthew was working Sunday thru Thurs and had Fri/Sat off and wasnt working at nights. It was fabulous! Now we are starting a whole new kind of normal.

On most of Matthews off days he works with his buddy Steve doing remodling types of stuff. He enjoys it and brings in some extra cash which is nice. He is much more flexible with it so if we need to do something or he wants the day off then he doesnt go work with steve. Then once a month he travles for a couple days, usually Thurs thru Sat evening doing all the setup/sound running/teardown for XFC (like UFC)! He really enjoys this job. And, since its on his weekend time then he doesnt have to miss any work or maybe only 1 day every few months. I have to say personally that I would much rather Matthew do this traveling job then working at nights.

For those of you who know my husband, you know that he always has to be doing something. He does not take much time to rest/relax. He is always doing something. I love this about him. Though it can be hard bc sometimes I just want him to sit still with me. We have been thru many changes over the course of our 5yrs together. And, I know there will be many more throughout our life together but just as we have done over the past few years we will continue to pray through everything. We know Gods plan for us is an incredible one and I pray that we always always always go first to the Lord in prayer and always follow where he leads.

All that being said...Yes, my husbands job now tends to be more flexible then some. But that by no way means that he doesnt work hard or work at all. He loves his job. Whether he is at the office, taking care of stuff at storage/trailers, keeping up with things at AHS, meeting, building things for the stage or childrens area, working on computers, changing light out, making budgets, dealing with the copier/fax machine, dealing with IT stuff, working on the truck, putting the sign out, setting up and tearing down, running the sound/lights/video area, making sure everything is working on sundays and pretty much anything else you could possibly think of...he loves his job and has learned so much! From being a mechanic to now being in the position that he is, he has had to learn to do a lot and he has done it all with no problem. He just jumps in and does it, no questions asked. We have had to make many many sacrifices over the past few years and we would never change a thing. God has us in this place and is teaching us and growing us and for that we are forever greatful for His love and guidance.

I guess I want to end this post by saying...Lets try not to judge people on thier lives. We have no clue what thier life is like or has been like. Try to be loving and encouraging no matter what. And, I pray we all find contentment and happiness in our lives and stop being bitter and hateful towards others. Just because our lives are differant doesnt mean that they are worse or better then the other, just differant. If all our lives were the same it would be a very boring world to live in.

My dad always said to us growing up..."Happiness is a choice, choose happiness"

And, I leave you with a picture I took when I took the kids grocery shopping the other day. Thank you kroger for car carts!

Date Night at home!

The other evening Matthew and I decided to have a date night at home. We used to do this about once a week but we have gotten out of the habit during summer time with the kids staying up later, playing outside late and just being relaxed with the whole bedtime thing. Who am I kidding, Im always relaxed with the whole bedtime thing! ha!!

So, the other evening the kids were super grumpy and tired all day long so I knew it would be the perfect night to get the kids to bed early and have a date night at home! I gave the kids some much needed baths and put them in bed while Matthew ran to get Chilies to go. By the time he got home the kids were all sleeping peacefully!

Tinsley woke up right as I was taking her picture! Luckily she went right back to sleep!

Matthew and I go on about 1 date a month. Sometimes its 2 and sometimes its none. Our last date night away from home was about 5 weeks ago. We are thankful for every chance we get to spend time alone together. It would be nice if it could be once a week but thats just not reality. And, right now in our lives we like having family dates and spending special time with the kids! So date nights at home are the perfect compromise! And, its something we can do weekly.

Orange Beach

This past week Matthew, Jr and I went to Orange beach for student life camp with the high schoolers from Cedarcrest! It was soo much fun! Troy, our youth minister, had asked Matthew and I a few weeks ago if we would be willing to go and help out! I am so thankful that God opened up the doors for us to be able to go. We took Jr along because we thought he would love it and have fun and so that the grandparents back home would only have 3 and it might be a little bit easier on them.

This week was such a blessing. Getting to know the awesome students of cedarcrest better and hearing thier hearts and seeing God move in them was an amazing experience! I have already told my mom, who is the childrens director at church, that in August I will no longer be volunteering for her but I am going to be moving to the high school area to work with the high school girls! Growing up I had an incredible leader through high school and I am so thankful for Tricia and all she did for me. After spending a week with these girls I clearly feel the Lords moving for me to work with them and walk with them through these years. I am excited about it!

Not only did I have fun with the students but I also had a wonderful time with Matthew and Jr. It was nice having just Jr and being able to really spend good time with him and love on him. Here at home he is the most independent one and can pretty much do everything for himself. The 3 youngins though still need lots of help with the potty, getting dressed, eating, etc...so it was nice to just focus on Jr and give him special attention for a few days! And, I got to actually sit in worship next to Matthew and worship along side him. Since being with matthew, 6yrs, I think we have maybe worshipped together with him having no responsibilities about 5 times, maybe. So being able to do that was so wonderful for us both. God was working in us this week too, not just the students!

I wish I would have taken more pictures but we were too busy having fun!!! We had 2 students riding in the truck with us, Chelsea and Nick, it was so fun! Jr loved them and so do I. They are great!

One night during worship Jr got a little antsy so we walked down to the marina and looked at some awesome fishing boats!

Our view of the beach and our pool with a lazy river!
Headed home to be reunited with the others! Jr was just as excited as I was!!! He missed his brothers and sister!

Major Mac

Our good friend Bradley, or Major Mac as the boys call him, is in Afghanistan. He flys blackhawks and has been there since Feburary and will return in December. This picture was taken about a year ago. Jr LOVES Major Mac! We have this picture up in our livingroom. The boys ask about Major Mac often and we pray dialy for him and his wife here at home , Andrea. To hear Jr pray for Major Mac and all of our soldiers overseas and here at home is so sweet.
My mom gave Jr and Colton each an army hat that she had gotten and used for church. Jr would not take it off last night and told us he was a soldier fighting for his country like major mac does. When he went to bed he had to put his boots, hat and gun by his bed so he could wake up and put them all back on in the morning. And, as soon as he woke up this morning, he got them on and he was ready to go!
Please keep Major Mac and his wife Andrea in your prayers.

Westin

Westin is now 7 months old...he will be 8 months old on the 15th. He is the most lovey and cuddly and sweet thing ever! He is by far my biggest baby at 21 lbs already. Jr was 21 at 1yr and Colton was 21 at 11mo. Tinsley is 20mo and only 22 lbs. He is in 12mo clothes and I change his bib about 20x a day because he drools sooo much! He has started getting this awful rash under his chin and on his neck. We are putting aquaphor and powder on it to help. It doesnt seem to bother him though.

I love waking up to this sweet boys smiles. He is just so good! As long as he is fed and has a clean diaper, he is happy to sit and play! He also LOVES to grab a hold of whoever is holding him ad basically suck thier face! ha! It is too funny!!

He is sitting up great and loves to play with his toys. He has no interest in crawling and I am very okay with that! He falls asleep every time we get in the car! I love opening the car door to see his sweet sleepy face! He will usually stay asleep as i transport him to his bed!

He is growing up sooo fast. It is fun to watch him grow but is sad to know my baby will be 1 in a  little over 4 months.  I love my sweet baby boy!

HOT weekend!

It was super hot this weekend! We had a fun filled weekend full of friends and family! Friday evening we had our friends Bryan and Lindsey over. My kids LOVE Bryan and he is sooo good with them but now that he has his beautiful girlfriend Lindsey the boys seem to gravitate to her! ha! We had a yummy dinner and did some sparklers and fireworks afterwards!

Saturday we spent time together with a trip to target and old navy. Later that evening we had my cousin Jims wedding to go to. It was at an old barn in Tallapoosa and it was BEAUTIFUL! Hot as it was, the bride was stunning and it was a perfect evening with my family!

Our family, covered in sweat but we had water and a wet rag to keep us cool during the outdoor ceremony! We also had lollypops and golfish! our secret weapons! All the kids did great and sat thru the whole thing no problem!

My dance partner for the night. This boy is unstoppable! He was sooo much fun!

Poor Colton was not having the loud music. He stayed outside most of the night catching crickets and frogs!

I never got a picture of Tinsley or Westin. Tmae loved the dance floor, especially all of the lights! She was so sweet and loved dancing with my cousin Jennifer! Westin was so content and he gave my arms a major workout throughout the night! Matthew eventually had to turn the car on and he fell asleep within seconds of laying down in his seat! (dont worry, the car was right next to the building and Matthew was outside with colton keeping watch)!! It was a late night and we didnt get home until 1230 but it was sooo worth it!!!
